Overview
Redesigned an existing book cover to improve visual hierarchy, typography, and overall composition. The project focused on creating a more modern and compelling visual identity while preserving the tone and intent of the original content. Explored multiple layout and typographic directions to develop a cohesive design that communicates clearly and captures attention.
Problem
Many classic books rely on dated or overly traditional cover designs that fail to resonate with younger readers. The challenge was to create a cover that felt contemporary and visually engaging, encouraging a younger audience to pick up the book while still respecting its historical and literary significance.
Approach
I explored multiple layout, typography, and compositional directions to identify a visual approach that felt both modern and appropriate to the source material. I focused on creating strong visual hierarchy and using typography as a primary design element to convey tone and personality. Careful attention was given to balance, spacing, and contrast to ensure the design was visually compelling while remaining clear and readable.
Outcome
The final design presents a modern interpretation of a classic work, making it more visually accessible and appealing to younger readers while preserving the seriousness and intent of the original content. This project demonstrates my ability to reinterpret existing material and use typography and composition to communicate effectively across different audiences.
